Sneak peak!
I'm too happy with how this came out to wait until Thursday (update day) to put it up. Choosing the color palate for the comic was a difficult process for me; I hadn't planned on using the warm half at all in the planning stages, but now I'm in love with it. Drawing the distinction between the station lights (yellow, with shadows of orange and red), the station itself (blues) and the ocean (red) makes for fun and dramatic composition that should also help further some of the surreal aspects of the story later on.
Fun fact: their helmet lights, flood lights, exterior station lights, and subsequently, all of the underwater shots are in red because none of the known species living in the Challenger Deep (and other hadal zones) can see red spectrum light. If they used shorter wavelengths, they would not only scare away many species, but also attract unwanted predators (think the bioluminescent lures on angler fish).
